Ineptitude in Congress

We need coverage for the uninsured, at least for those who want coverage.  Covering these patients is the right thing to do, it will likely save health care costs.

But the Democrats argue too much within their own party.  As several friends have said to me, the Democrats seem to want to cut off their nose to spite their face.  Bob Doherty weighs in today – Will Congress throw the uninsured under the bus?

I understand that the bills are controversial, and that people are troubled by the deal-making that went into getting the necessary votes. I appreciate that people are concerned that the U.S. can't afford to take this on now, even though the CBO says that the legislation will reduce the federal budget deficit. I "get it" that many people don't trust the government to deliver on the promise of better care at lower cost. I know that changes will need to be made in the bills to increase public support, such as elimination of some of the special deals made in the Senate. What I don't get is the apparent willingness of politicians to again throw the uninsured under the bus.

If this Congress had Pay for Performance, they would owe us money.  They are so worried about the next election that they cannot address the key issues of health care.  They have no ability to express the problem in understandable terms.  Our President gives a great speech, but he has not led on this issue.

Our Congress is, unfortunately, inept.  They do not seem capable of making a difference.  I was hoping that they would produce, but I guess the cannot.  Tis a shame.

How do we expect to pay for everyone when we can't even pay for 85% of everyone?  I don't understand how rational people believe that government is the solution.  Look at where we are today.  12 trillion dollar in debt.  A Medicare national bank that is cash flow negative and officially spent of all its reserves in less than 5-6 years.
We have 90 year olds demanding kidney dialysis because of the power of love.  We have no ability to set limits on what we consume.  How exactly is our government supposed to pay for more?
