17 days at the VA – a retrospective

by rcentor on December 2, 2009

As usual I enjoyed my VA "tour of duty".  We saw a reasonable variety of clinical problems with the notable exception of female patients.  We had some interesting decisions to make that required high level considerations.

I tried to find time to teach each day.  I actually am always teaching, but students and interns appreciate time set aside for "chalk talks".  Fortunately, I really do enjoy those sessions.

After almost 30 years of ward attending, I see something new each time I lead a ward team.  Medicine has breadth and variety that never seems to end.

I will return to the VA on December 16.  I need the readers to advise me on whether I should return to this format for those 2 weeks.  So please provide your opinion.

I echo the sentiments above, I've been greatly enjoying these.  Very helpful.

Definitely. It is an excellent idea. I will do so in my blog (well, will try now to convert it in a blog instead of a resource). :)
