ACP leadership

As readers know, I am currently on the ACP Board of Regents.  I just started my 2nd year on this board.  Over the course of this time I have become increasingly impressed with ACP leadership.

I spent my first few meetings a bit dazed and overwhelmed.  ACP is a huge organization (125k members) with large numbers of programs.  While I knew a few of the Regents, it takes some time develop new relationships and better understand each Regents background, interests and skills.

Wow, this is a representative group.  We have a great balance of private practice and academics.  That is quite unusual in large organizations.  I marvel at the dedication that the Regents have to ACP and internal medicine as a field.

We make many decisions; I agree with most decisions, but when I disagree, I have complete respect for the decision making process and the integrity of the other Regents.  As I sit around the table, I know that everyone has a passion for Internal Medicine.

I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to contribute to the organization.  I sense that my colleagues feel the same.
