Jacob Reider is probably the founding father of the medical blogging movement. He takes his turn hosting Grand Rounds this week. I am honored that he included one of my posts (my recent work and travel schedule often keep me from submitting to Grand Rounds).
Today’s post also speaks loudly – Medical Blogs etc.
Contrast this with the bloggers like Kevin and Sydney and DB. Bloggin away .. and doing great work – whether you read it or not. My best posts are written for me – not for you.
I’m not saying that wanting traffic is bad (yeh – I sent Dave an e-mail inviting him to post a link) but I don’t think that it should be the primary reason for doing this sort of writing.
Blogging is a very interesting habit. I started blogging over 3 years ago for very personal reasons. I wanted to improve my writing skills. I thought that the discipline of daily journaling would help my writing.
I believe that my writing has improved dramatically. But while doing all these entries, I have seen blogging as a philosophic soapbox. Most days I get to write about issues that concern me. Amazingly, people read my rants each day. The traffic is rewarding. Even more rewarding are the thoughtful comments (even when I disagree).
So thanks to the readers who drop by this personal journal. I will try to stay true to my personal beliefs and goals, and hopefully entertain.
