I had a stint put in over two years ago. I am current taking Plavix, Metroprolol and starting taking Celebrex within last 6 months for Arthritus. The problem I started having is major body flushing in mainly my upper boby and face also heart palpitations off an on. Also, Abdominal pain and Head Aches.I have been too the Emergency Room a couple time as well with no clear answers either.I have been testing for several different things with no real answers. Drug interaction.. Maybe???

Are there any warnings for Diabetes medication? On TV there's Avandia's warning, but my doc says it's ok to take it. I decided not to, but i wonder if i'll be ok with no medication for diabetes except the Insulin pens. If anybody has any information, please let me know.
thanks

I read the comments on this page, and i noticed that my husband's case is similar to that comment of Mr. Kent. I wonder how he is doing today, since the comments were posted in 2005.
thanks,

I had a stent after a mild heart attack 2009 and has been taking Plavix 75mg since, and also a statin pill.
I normally take my pills after a meal at night and I seem to have no side effects.
It might be with some patients, that the drugs they take in addition to Plavix, dont react well.
Drs mainly follow the manufacturers instructions about their trial result claims. But people's lifestyle eating habits are different. They also have different organ problems. So it is not always that one 'size fits all'. In any profession there are experts and those just following the text books.
You know your own body. So do some research yourself and if you are uncomfortable with a prescribed drug, then please shout for help.

Mom is 86 . Suffered 2 stokes. Given Plavix and has developed severe pain . Intestinal bleeding on right side. They have given her a transfusion for 2 pints of blood and the doctor still says this is the best.
I have a problem with all this . I am stopping her getting the Plavix . It is doing more harm than good. There is something else.

I suffered a severe near fatal MI about 3 years ago and have been on Plavix since. Plavix has scary side effects, but dying of an MI (or stroke) is scary too. There is no perfect answer; it is all a judgment call. Might I fall and die of a hematoma, yes. But it's more likely without the Plavix, that I will die of an MI.

My advice is to find a doctor you trust and then trust them. It took me a couple of years to find a cardiologist who specializes in prevention, that I felt that I could talk to and would listen to me. It was worth the time and effort. While I believe that I must be my own advocate, I don't want to spend the entire rest of my life focused on running scared. Life is too short.

My mom is 51 and just had stents put in. she had a 90% blockage in her adominal aorta, it was starting to balloon. The procedure saved her, even right after the surgery she felt so energized. She felt great. Until the dr started her on plavix. She had already been taking aspirin. Less than 2 weeks and she has a full body rash with itching, BAD bruising, bad abdominal pain and is starting to get down by all of these problems due to the plavix. She has been to the emergency room due to these issues, but they refuse to switch meds. They have given her benadryl shots and cream to stop the itching and sent her on her way. They say plavix is the best for her. How can I sit back a watch her suffer from these problems, I think plavix needs to be re evaluated. Its too risky for some people.

I'm a 69 yr old male - at 63 had major heart attack - according to everyone ( I was lucky to survive ) they put 2 coated stints in - within 3 days / I was home taking Plavix - plus 3 other statins - sadly, I forget the names of the pills that caused terrible problems / cramps but after experimenting - i now take the following - Toporal, Metroporal, Lisinaprol, plus 81 mg aspirin - within approximately 2 yrs I had another mild attack and they put in 2 more stints. RESULT - I've gained approximately 15 lbs. ( harder to loose weight ) but no other problems - NOTE - I have not /do not exercise regularly - MY FAULT - Have never taken vitamins, etc - been inconsistent at exercising but after reading these comments - I am VERY concerned about Plavix and will become VERY proactive.
I might add, I also had Prostate Cancer at 65 - at that time, they were concerned about my bleeding so they gave me Tomotherapy which to my belief solved my problem. Per my Doctor, I continue to take the heart Statins, etc but I am looking forward to confirmation from others that maybe options including exercise or ? will hopefully offset some of the symptoms people talk about if we continue to take these pills - THINKING about it - I also require far more sleep than before - 8 to 9 hours - I need cat naps - I get tired a lot more frequently - If you find answers - please pass on any information that indicates one can stop taking Plavix, etc and replace it with other options - As a business executive, I find my own ( previous ) passive attitude and belief in the system "less than acceptable" After reading these blogs, It sounds like many of us better "wake up" before it's too late. THANK YOU TO THOSE WHO PASS ON INFORMATION that help others - it is hard to accept that the Doctor has all the answers even when we want to - kent@awelive.com

(whoops)....and opted out of Plavix. He is using gingko instead.

Personally, I don't have the confidence to make that change. But it reminds us once again how much we don't know, and how hard reliable information on drugs is to find.
