I have gotten very busy at work (some new responsibilities) and thus my blog reading has diminished (less evening time to browse). This morning I am on vacation, and do have some extra time. As usual I checked out Medlogs and to my delight found this excellent post. Please go read it. akfox has expressed these ideas beautifully. This is an important rant! The Personal Touch
To entice you:
I was interviewed today by a reporter from one of the local newspapers to discuss my “unique” practice. My practice is following the “Gordon Moore model” emphasizing low overhead, minimal barriers, maximum accessibility via cellphone and e-mail. I described how I have no employees, in order to keep my overhead low, and how in return, I am able to spend more face-to-face time with patients. The reporter seemed impressed, so I’m hoping for a positive news story that might generate more patients.
Thanks, DB, for the link to my blog. I got more hits in a day than I do in a month! Yours was the first medical blog I ever came across, and has consistently proved to be informative and thought-provoking. Keep it up!
Has anyone considered adopting Dr. Moore’s model but making it a cash business only? Get rid of all the “billing headaches” by asking for payment at the time of services rendered.
Hello, Yes I have and when I have enough money saved ( I’m currently working locums assignments), a cash based practice is precisely what I’m doing, based on G. Mooore’s plan. I know several physicians where I trained that are already doing this and they’re doing quite well. Their pts love them. You can do it boss!
