New pain med from cannabis?

Interesting story on the search for a "high free" cannabis based pain reliever - Cannabis drug 'fights pain without high'

Not, I fear, in the US, where Federal law reads in part "there is no medical" use for any form of cannabis and that law is being used to threaten/prosecute doctors and patients and even state governments.

"The medical community wants efficacy without this ['high'] effect."

So do a lot of patients. They would like to feel safer driving and doing other things.
